Best Wishes to Lee Klingler upon his Retirement from FAU

August, 2022

Please join us in extending best wishes to Dr. Lee Klingler, who has officially retired from Florida Atlantic University as of August 2022. He was a valuable member of the faculty for 38 years, teaching many different courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He initiated the MST program in 1993 and served as its director for many years. He was department chair for 6 years, from 2009 through 2015. Dr. Klingler always demonstrated a commitment to excellence, which served as an example to all.

Dr. Klingler’s received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 1984, and began a faculty position at FAU immediately thereafter. His research interests include rings, modules, and commutative algebra. He has been an active faculty volunteer at Math Day and Florida GeoGebra events and a regular participant in the Math Circle. Dr. Klingler has always been passionate about teaching and learning mathematics.

Dr. Klingler is a highly respected professor who is known to be extremely helpful to students and colleagues alike, and he will be missed dearly by everyone. He will be moving to Oregon to take an instructor position and, with his wife, to live closer to their extended family. We honored his service to the Department of Mathematical Sciences at a party on Friday July 29, 2022.
