Welcome to the Student Chapter of SIAM at Florida Atlantic University!

SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) fosters the development of applied mathematical and computational methodologies needed in various application areas. Applied mathematics, in partnership with computational science, is essential in solving many real-world problems. Through publications, research, and community, the mission of SIAM is to build cooperation between mathematics and the worlds of science and technology.
Florida Atlantic University's Student Chapter of SIAM encourages interdisciplinary participation by students from many departments on campus and attempt to make mathematics and its applications equally enjoyable and accessible. The activities of the SIAM Student Chapter are diverse and include:

  • Workshops
  • Guest speakers
  • Trips to industrial laboratories
  • Social functions
  • Team projects such as undergraduate competitions
  • Research symposia
  • Lunch discussions about career opportunities in applied math and computational science
  • Local and regional conferences
  • Participate in SIAM Annual Meetings
  • Opportunities to represent SIAM at local science festivals

Benefits of participation in our student chapter include, but are not limited to

  • Networking
  • Opportunities for Collaboration
  • Free SIAM membership
  • Funding for local activities
  • Worldwide visibility as a SIAM Chapter
  • Participation in SIAM annual Annual Meetings
  • Leadership opportunities

Everyone is welcomed to join. For more information about our student chapter, please email siam@fau.edu. For information about SAIM as a orgnaization or to update your membership, visit www.siam.org.
