Mini Math Day 2008, April 25

On Friday, April 25, 2008, the Department of Mathematical Sciences of Florida Atlantic University hosted a "Mini Math Day" for some 60 third graders of Banyan Creek Elementary School of Delray Beach. After a brief written math competition for the children, the participants (parents, teachers and children alike) were wowed by Mr. G.'s (Mr. Glenn Govertsen in real life) mixture of science and magic. Finally the kids took part in a team competition. Winners of the early individual and final team competitions received prizes. Everybody had a great time, and some mathematics was learned in the process.
