Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for this program are initially the same as those for the Bachelor of Science degree. Students should identify themselves as a BS/MS student as soon as possible, preferably during their first year. Then students must apply for admission into the graduate program by the end of their fourth year. The graduate admission requirements are the same as those for the Master of Science degree.Degree Requirements
1. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 for upper division and graduate courses to remain in the program.2. Completion of the following courses: MAC 2311-3 (honors version), MAS 2103, MAD 2104, MAD 2502, MAS 4107, STA 4442, MAA 4402, MAA 5228-9, MAS 5311-2, MAA 6306.
3. Completion of 12 credits of upper-division undergraduate (3000-4000 level) mathematics electives, excluding STA 3163, STA 3949, MAT 3949, STA 4032, STA 4800, and STA 4821.
4. Completion of 21 credits of graduate (5000-6000 level) mathematics electives, including at least 15 credits at the 6000-level.
5. Pass the Master’s examination in both analysis and algebra.
6. Students may take up to 9 Master’s thesis credits as elective courses, but they must complete a Master’s thesis for these credits to count toward the combined degree. This option does NOT replace the Master’s examination requirement.
