We will cover most materials from Chapters 12 to 16.

Prerequisite: Passing grades on Calculus I & II

Attendance: You are expected to attend classes regularly and to arrive on time. Out of respect for the classroom environment, one should avoid arriving late or leaving early. Cell phones are to be disabled during classes.

Homework: To be assigned regularly. As a general rule, plan to spend two to three hours studying for each hour of lecture. A good tip for passing the course is to practice, practice, practice ! Problems assigned should be taken as the minimal set of exercises to practice.

Quizzes and Exams:
A weekly quiz will be given on every Friday, lasting 15 -- 20 minutes, except in the weeks with exams. No make-up quizzes . Your lowest quiz score will be dropped.

There will be two mid-term exams, each lasting for 50 minutes, to be given during the class hour in the classroom. The tentative dates of the exams are Wednesdays, October 1 and November 5. The exact dates will be announced in class one week in advance. Make-up exams are only for documented, legitimate reasons.

There will be a comprehensive final exam, to be given on Sunday, December 7, 4:00--6:30pm.

Grades: Quizzes: 25%, each exam: 20%, final exam 35%.
