The Department of Mathematical Sciences hosts a variety of seminars in which faculty, students and visitors present and discuss their recent work. These seminars meet in SE 215 unless otherwise stated.
ALGEBRA SEMINAR
Weekly research seminars with topics covering: commutative and non-commutative rings, groups, modules; categorical and combinatorial methods in algebra; representations of groups and of finite dimensional algebras; and applications, in particular to cryptography.
This seminar has met regularly since 1999; by tradition, there are coffee and cookies before the talks.
DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS SEMINAR
Biweekly research seminars with topics covering: dynamical systems, normal form theory,
bifurcation theory,
homoclinic bifurcations, chaos, and mathematics in biology.
