The main purpose of this course is to acquaint students with
abstract reasoning in analysis and, more generally, in mathematics.
The topics covered are essentially the same which are covered in a
Calculus course, but the treatment is quite different. We
do emphasize proofs; for example. We shall try
to cover as much of the textbook as possible, keeping a brisk but
(one hopes) not exhausting pace.
This is an experimental page. As the course progresses, check it
for homeworks, assignments, comments. Eventually (and without
previous warning) it may become an interactive page. In the meantime,
you may send comments to
Tomas Schonbek.
