Course Description

We shall try to cover Chapters 1 to 5 of the textbook, and a little bit of Chapter 7. We shall move at a relatively brisk pace, so try not to fall behind; it may be hard to catch up.

Grading for the course will be based on homeworks, two exams and a project. Of these exams, the second one will be a cumulative final exam. The homeworks may involve some computer work. The project will be based on one of the modules at the end of Chapters 3 and 5 of the textbook (you choose which one) and can be a group effort. If you miss the first exam or do poorly in it, you will be allowed to make up for it at the end of the course. A make-up date will be posted eventually on this page. Late homework will not be accepted. There might be occasional in class quizzes, given without previous warning. For grading purposes, these quizzes will be considered homeworks. The final grade will be based upon exams, quizzes and project as follows:
