The Department of Mathematical Sciences hosted 150 fourth grade students from Hidden Oaks Elementary School in Lake Worth on May 7, 2013.
The program began with a short quiz followed by Dr. Tomas Schonbek's team contest. After lunch, students were treated to an educational demonstration presented by former science teacher Glen Govertsen. The demonstrations, part of the “Mr. G Science Show,” combines the dynamics of music, lasers, raw eggs, fiber optics and other materials with clear explanations to motivate students in science and mathematics.
Dr. Lee Klingler, chair of the Mathematical Sciences department, awarded educational mathematics game prizes to both individual and team competition winners.
