Calculus III  (Spring 2008)

Hi, here is some information about my course Calculus III, MAC 2313. We meet Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10:00 - 10:50 p.m. in AL 343.

Textbook and Topics

We are going to use the textbook Calculus - Early Transcendentals, 5th edition by James Stewart ( ISBN 0-534-39321-7). In this course we are going to cover the following chapters.

Chapter 12	Vectors and the geometry of space --- as needed
Chapter 13	Vector Functions  --- we start here
Chapter 14	Partial Derivatives
Chapter 15	Multiple Integrals
Chapter 16	Vector Calculus

Credit

Homework:  Every week, homework problems will be assigned; some problems will come up on a quiz.

Quizzes:  There'll be a quiz every Friday; the ten best quizzes count for 40 % of the grade.

Extra Credit:  You can obtain extra credit counting towards your quiz grade for assignments done on a computer algebra system, for example Maple.

Midterm Exam:  The midterm exam counts for 20 % of the grade. It is scheduled for Friday, February 22, during class time. The exam will cover chapters 12/3-5, 13/1-4, and 14/1-6. Please review in particular all homework problems and quizzes.

Final Exam: The final exam is comprehensive, counting for 40 % of your grade. It will take place on Sunday, April 27, 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. in GS109.
