Calculus III  (Spring 2006)


Hi, here is some information about my course Calculus III, MAC 2313. We meet Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10:00 - 10:50 p.m. in GS 107.

Textbook and Topics

We are going to use the textbook Calculus - Early Transcendentals, 5th edition by James Steward ( ISBN 0-534-39321-7). In this course we are going to cover the following chapters.
Chapter 12 Vectors and the geometry of space --- as needed
Chapter 13 Vector Functions  --- we start here
Chapter 14 Partial Derivatives
Chapter 15 Multiple Integrals
Chapter 16 Vector Calculus

Credit

Homework:  Every week, homework problems will be assigned; some problems may come up on a quiz.

Quizzes:  There'll be a quiz every Friday; the ten best quizzes count for 1/3 of the grade.

Extra Credit:  You can obtain extra credit for assignments done on a computer algebra system, say on Maple or MuPAD.

Midterm Exam:  The first midterm took place on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, it counts for 1/4 of the grade. We will have a second small midterm exam on Monday, April 24, counting for two quizzes. There will be three problem on this 25 minutes exam; the two best answers count.

Final Exam:  The final exam is comprehensive.  The final exam will take place on Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. in GS 109. It will count for  5/12  of your grade.
