       The Department of Mathematical Sciences, Florida Atlantic University, announces a mathematics competition for the academic year 2007--2008, open to all high school students in the state of Florida.

       The purpose of the competition is to encourage students to solve mathematics problems of varying difficulty, to challenge their mathematics skills and ingenuity, and finally to prepare them for the more formal competitions around the nation. 

       The competition consists of 6 challenging problems, which will be available at this site during the second week of October. Interested contestants may also request a paper copy of the competition by giving us a mailing address. Entries to the competition should be sent by regular mail. 

      Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded at a ceremony on the FAU Math Day, tentatively March 1, 2008.
